On the 19th June 2014 the Berner Zeitung (Bern Newspaper) reported on the explosive increase in the cost associated with cancer treatments. It gave the following data:
In Switzerland, the number of new cancer cases a year between 1990 and 2000 increased from 27,000 to 33,00. In the following 10 years that number increased further to 37,000.
This number gets even more interesting when you look at the number of digital cell phone towers that existed in that time. In 1990 there were as good as no towers at all. In 2000 there were 8,000 towers. Between the years 2000 and 2010 the number of cell phone towers nearly doubled to 16,800.
That means that in the first 20 years since the introduction of digital mobile transmissions the yearly new cancer cases increased by about 35%.
